The Boy with Nails for Eyes

Shaun Gardiner – The Boy with Nails for Eyes

Shaun Gardiner is an Orkney-based writer and artist. He will be performing The Boy with Nails for Eyes, a hybrid story bridging comics, animation and live performance. The story has some dark themes and this event is suitable for those aged 15 years and older.

The performance will be followed by a Q&A with graphic artist Axe Marnie. Born in Bahrain, Shaun lived in the Middle East during the Gulf War. His experiences at this time in part inspired The Boy with Nails for Eyes.

The story has been described as ‘sublime’, and as ‘sitting in an intense, in-between land of art and prose barely comprehensible as a comic’.

As well as graphic novels, he writes poetry and scripts for the stage.

Age advisory 15 years +.
